The school has created an inclusive, nurturing environment. This complements its vision, that is, to be a community that prepares pupils to live a full life (John 10:10)' (SIAMS report May 2019)
At Chalfont St Peter C of E Academy, we aspire to be an inspirational, joyful, and successful school where every pupil flourishes and lives life to the full. Guided by our strong Christian ethos and values, we are committed to nurturing the unique talents and potential of each child, empowering them to thrive academically, socially, and spiritually.
Through our vibrant, enriching curriculum and abundant opportunities for personal development, we will cultivate a love of learning and equip our pupils with the knowledge, skills, and resilience to excel beyond their time with us. As a reflective, forward-thinking community, we will continuously strive for improvement, forging effective partnerships to ensure our pupils are prepared for every stage of their future journey.
Underpinned by our unwavering dedication, high expectations, and positive outlook, Chalfont St Peter C of E Academy will be a beacon of excellence, where happiness shines through, and every child is valued, nurtured, and inspired to reach their full potential.
At Chalfont St Peter C of E Academy, we bring joy and inspire success, knowing that Jesus said: 'I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full'. (John 10:10)
Chalfont St Peter Church of England Academy is committed to developing the full potential of each child in all aspects of life within the context of a welcoming and caring community. As a church academy, we recognise the importance of faith in achieving this. We seek to give both an understanding of the Christian faith and to provide opportunities for the growth and expression of individual faith.
Our core values are: generosity, compassion, respect, courage, faithfulness and justice.
Chalfont St Peter C.E. Academy is the only Church of England School in our village.
Church schools have Christian beliefs and values at their heart. This means that
every child and adult associated with the school is not just important because they
are members of the school but because they are seen as unique individuals within
God's creation.
Our vision for education is deeply Christian, with Jesus' promise of 'life in all its
fullness' at its heart. We want all to flourish in every aspect of their lives.
Church schools recognise that as well as academic and emotional intelligence,
human beings also have spiritual intelligence. The spiritual aspects of life will be
recognised, and nurtured alongside the academic and emotional needs of all.
Church schools are places where challenge through questioning is encouraged, as
through this we can make sense of the world, the gift of life and the purpose of our
own personal lives
In line with the Church of England's role as the established Church, our vision is for
the common good of the whole community.
Educating for wisdom, knowledge and skills: enabling discipline, confidence and
delight in seeking wisdom and knowledge, and developing talents in all areas of life.
Educating for hope and aspiration: enabling healing, repair and renewal, coping
wisely when things go wrong, opening horizons and guiding people into ways of
fulfilling them.
Educating for community and living well together: a core focus on relationships,
participation in communities and the qualities of character that enable people to
flourish together.
Educating for dignity and respect: the basic principle of respect for the value and
preciousness of each person, treating each person as a unique individual of inherent
worth.
We welcome all to be part of our school whether of the Christian faith, other faith or
no faith
Our curriculum is exciting and rich. We believe we live in a wonderful world that is
ours to explore and be responsible for.
In Church of England schools, where pupils and staff come from all faiths and none,
religious education (RE) is a highly valued academic subject that enables
understanding of how religion and beliefs affect our lives. At the heart of RE in
church schools is the teaching of Christianity and pupils also learn about other faiths
and world views.
Our values are rooted in the Bible. The clergy and other members of the parish
church, and other local churches help school leaders to unpack our values of
Compassion, Generosity, Faithfulness, Respect, Justice and Courage. These values
are embedded in our school life and are lived out in who we are and what we do.
We have daily Acts of Collective Worship.
As well as being inspected by OFSTED, we also are inspected by SIAMS
(SIAMS inspections) to ensure that our school is ‘deeply Christian’ in
nature. Our last SIAMS in 2019 said “The vision for the school to be a loving
supportive Christian family, underpins the academic and spiritual growth of this
community. It successfully upholds the dignity and value of all as children of God,
giving pupils ample opportunities to flourish (John 10:10)”
Recognising its historic foundation, the school will preserve and develop its religious character in accordance with the principles of the Church of England and in partnership with the Church at parish and diocesan level.
The school aims to serve its community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice.
It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith across a diversity of peoples and cultures whilst promoting Christian values through the experience it offers to all its pupils.
Collective worship is held every day, part of which involves time set aside for assembly. There are close links between the school and St Peter's Church, the vicar visits regularly.
We feel it is important for children to develop sound moral values and to realise our interdependence on other individuals, groups and nations. This is best achieved by the example and influence of all adult members of the school community. The curriculum mainly reflects a broad based Christian approach. This also involves discussion of other peoples religions and their ways of life. An understanding and respect of others beliefs is encouraged.
With improved communications it is vital that pupils know about, understand and accept other cultures and their origins, not only in the world at large but in their own country and locality. The school seeks, through the ethos of its curriculum and the life of the school, to develop in its pupils an awareness of the multi-cultural nature of our society.
We are always pleased to welcome children of other denominations and beliefs. Parents who, on religious grounds, wish their children to be withdrawn from our school assemblies and R.E lessons should contact the headteacher. Individual arrangements will then be made for their children during these occasions.
